Postcards of the Past
Storytime!
In the early chapters of my grandfather's career, he spent a year or two studying in London. Over the course of his time there, he collected a treasure trove of exquisite postcards, each a keep safe from experiences (though time would later tuck them away in a drawer).
Fast forward to the present, I stumbled across these postcards resting in a quiet corner of my childhood home. A spark of inspiration ignited within me and I decided to breathe new life into these postcards through my passion for creating photocollages!
As an individual deeply committed to infusing a personal touch into my work, I found this exercise particularly transformative during a period marked by significant burnout. The meditative process of laying out paper, meticulously cutting it, and intuitively assembling it into something profoundly resonant provided a therapeutic escape, leading me into a state of creative flow. I also think that this exercise was my way of cherishing my grandfather's memory and would give anything for him to witness and see what I turned these postcards into.
Additionally, I had the honor of sharing this journey and the resultant work with colleagues through an inspirational talk, as part of a global creative festival organized within our company. This opportunity allowed me to present my creative process and contribute to the enriching tapestry of our collective artistic exploration.
